Eight ibises gather along the limbs of a silver, sun-bleached snag, most of them still in the soft brown and white of young birds. At the centre, two face each other with bills open and wings lifted, the light glowing through their feathers. Behind them, a quiet sky of pale cloud and faint warm tones lets every curved bill and slender leg read clearly.
